Gender equality is a fundamental human right and a critically important socio-economic driver for peace, prosperity, and sustainable development. Mahidol University supports all academic activities, research, and other projects in promoting women’s and girls’ roles in society, including health promotion and violence control for staff, students, and the surrounding community. The University emphasizes the opportunity to access education and work equally, without gender discrimination, including opportunities for further education and career development. The Center of Excellence in Research on Gender, Sexuality and Health was established in 2019 to collaborate with academic networks and students’ local, national, regional and international civil-society organizations. The center focuses on the use of integrated thinking to study health issues, sexual rights, reproductive health, and gender inequality. Mahidol University also focuses on the rights of LGBTQ+, who are permitted to dress according to their gender preference during class and at the graduation ceremony. The relevant regulations aim to protect the rights and freedom of expression of students, and encourage them to be themselves, which greatly affects self-development and confidence. The University provides an All-Gender Restroom on the 1st floor of the student dormitories of Nakhon Sawan campus and the Faculty of Science, Salaya campus.
